The Unofficial Michael Mell Cosplay Guide

This guide will cover productions from 2015 to 2020 including the London production of Be More Chill.
This is in no way an official Michael Mell archive, nor is it made by any Be More Chill Production member. This guide may not have all the details on all Michael Mell's costumes ever but I'm pretty sure it's at least a little accurate.


Here's a rundown on the productions covered in this guide:

2015 - Two River Theater, New Jersey Production

2018 - Signature Theatre, Off-Broadway Production

2019 - Lyceum Theatre, Broadway Production

2020 - The Other Palace, London Production
*George Salazar's Broadway Final Bow Jacket will not be included

With all that said, here's your guide to Michael Mell's Costume.

In All Productions

Notes:

• An easy way to tell the difference between the Off-Broadway and Broadway production hoodies is by looking at the drawstrings and zipper of the hoodie. The Off-Broadway hoodie has completely black drawstrings and a white/silver zipper while the Broadway version has black drawstrings with white stripes and, at times, a blue zipper.

Off-Broadway Production

Broadway Production

• Throughout the Musical, in all productions (at times, not in the Broadway production), George Salazar wears a custom pair of  Theo Mille+35 glasses.

• In "Upgrade", Michael wears his iconic red hoodie with what seems to be a Black sleeveless zip-up jacket over it.
• At the Halloween party, Michael does not wear his red hoodie but wears a "Trash Monster" costume before taking it off to reveal a "CREEPS" long-sleeved shirt while talking to Jeremy in the events before "Michael In The Bathroom".

 

• During "Michael In The Bathroom" and shortly before, Michael wears the black long sleeve shirt with a light green "CREEPS" text printed on in a modified University or Varsity Jacket font (can be bought from the Be More Chill merch website).
• Aside from the Creeps shirt, Michael wears Shorts, Low Cut Sneakers, and his Weed socks (colors vary in the different productions).

 
• In All Productions, the backs of Michael's hoodies are customized with the Supremebeing Mont Bear (upper; White on Black) and the album art for Joy Division's album "Unknown Pleasures" (Lower; White on Black).

2015 New Jersey Production, Two-River Theater

Headphones:

• Michael's Headphones are white JnTworld HP-DJ870 Collapsible Headphones
  

Hoodie:

• Michael's hoodie is a red half-zip hoodie with pocket zippers and an internal pocket similar to a UniQlo dri fit hoodie

Notes:

• Michael wears Cyan boxers (as seen in "The Pants Song").
• He also wears a black and gray hexagonal printed shirt in "The Pants Song".
• Michael is often seen wearing green on red weed socks throughout the musical.

2018 Off-Broadway Production, Signature Theatre

Headphones:

• In the Off-Broadway production, Michael's headphones are a pair of Sony MDR-ZX110 white headphones with the "L" and "R" painted in gray.

 Hoodie:

• Michael wears an oversized red hoodie with internal side pockets and an installed horizontal pocket zipper. The hood's drawstrings are black flat-shaped strings.

• Michael wears an Oversized Red Hoodie with side pockets and an installed Horizontal Pocket Zipper. The hoodie's pull strings are black round strings with white stripes

2020 West-End Production, The Other Palace

Notes:

• The London Production of Be More Chill uses the same props and costumes as the Broadway Production
• A green tree frog patch was added near the pocket of Michael Mell's hoodie

• You can see Blake wear the same or a similar lavender shirt that George does in the Broadway production.
